The rectangular Smok RPM 4 has a familiar shape but is far superior to its predecessors like the Smok RPM 40. As those familiar with the original device might be aware, RPM is an acronym that stands for Real Pod Mod. The Smok RPM40 was their first effort to create a compact vape pod that could conceivably replace a box mod but could also replace smaller vape pods like the Smok Novo. Smok accomplished this with a clever expedient. The Smok RPM40 came with two pods. One housed the original Smok Nord coil family and the other fit the much larger Smok RPM Series of coils.
A similar expedient is in play with the Smok RPM 4. This time, there is a pod that is compatible with LP2 pods and another that works with the wide-ranging selection of RPM 4 coils.
Compared to the original Smok RPM40, the Smok RPM 4 is a major upgrade. The 0.96-inch TFT screen is incredibly useful, informative, and easy to navigate. The RPM 4 turns out 60w and the battery has been bumped up to 1650mAh. One big innovation is a sliding airflow control allows the vaper to really customize their experience, especially when used in conjunction with the adjustable wattage and available core selections. In terms of daily use, it blows its predecessor out of the water.
The new coil designs for the Smok RPM 4 can be found in the Smok LP2 coil family. These are an upgrade over previous Smok coil designs. Designed to be leak-resistant, LP stands for leak-proof, there are extra rings on the press fit coils to make sure that the contents of the 5ml vape pod does not end up spilling out. The side fill design on the vape pods, the kit comes with an RPM 4 compatible and LP2 compatible pod, has been improved.
What is most impressive about the Smok LP2 is not what it was designed to prevent, leakage, but what It was designed to do. And what it was designed to do is kick out thick and flavorful vapor. The mesh coil design has been enhanced to increase the surface area and offer a faster ramp-up speed. It has an open design and is meant for direct to lung vaping. You can control exactly how open with the airflow control bar. The resistance is a low 0.23ohms and it operates best between 25 and 45 watts. This is a device with sufficient vapor production to realistically replace a much larger box mod when it is equipped with low-resistance coils.
Not everyone is chasing the biggest clouds possible. You can use also use any coil from the RPM 4 coil family in the Smok RPM 4 vape pod kit. The device comes standard with the RPM Mesh 0.4ohm coil, but there are higher resistance coils available.
This means that not only can lower nicotine and medium strength e-juices be vaped in this device, but that vapers who use 50mg nicotine strength juices can also take advantage of the Smok RPM 4’s amazing suite of technology.
There is a 1.0ohm single coil and 1.2ohm quartz coil for salt nic juices and higher nic strength flavors.
The 1650mAh battery can be quickly charged via its USB-C port. The boxy shape is attractive and utilitarian. It can be easily toted and is a mere 4 inches in length. Available in a variety of attractive liveries, colors and frames, the Smok RPM 4 was designed to be your everyday vape. It can replace a box mod or function as the best disposable vape alternative. While not an autodraw, it can do double duty as a nic salt vape pod when equipped with a high-resistance coil. It just depends how you kit yours out. Yes, the RPM 4 has that much flexibility.
